Fellowship

  • Hospitality Time (after Sunday worship): beverages, snacks, and good conversation.
  • Holy Spirit Book Club (bi-monthly, year round):  books are read in advance, then discussed as a group.
  • Yarn & Needles (monthly, year round):  a virtual gathering that combines knitting, crocheting, and good conversation.  
  • Faith On Tap (monthly, year round):  gathering at a local pub for beverages and discussion about topics of current interest or concern.
  • Gardening Team:  beautification of outside planting beds.
  • Inter-Church Dart Team (weekly, in-season):  friendly competition with other ecumenical churches.
  • Choir (weekly, in season):  an opportunity develop musical skills, learn some beautiful choral music, and share it during worship services.  Also opportunities for those who play various musical instruments.
  • Friendship Luncheoneers (monthly, year round):  group gatherings for lunch and conversation at local restaurants.
  • Occasional outings, often with ALT (Albany Lutherans Together) collaborators.  (e.g., ValleyCat baseball games, museum visits, concerts, etc.).
  • and something that can too often be overlooked:  serving on one or two committees, which is nothing less than an opportunity to use and develop our individual spiritual gifts—-and in the process, get to know each other better: 

Holy Spirit’s Ministry Teams.

  • Council:  congregational organization, coordination, policy, and planning
  • Cemetery:  oversee the Holy Spirit Cemetery, Glenmont NY

  • Christian Education:  plan and offer learning and growth opportunities for adults and children

  • Communications:  deploy various ways and means for information dissemination 

  • Evangelism:  nurture current, new, and potential members

  • Finance:  manage congregational income, expenses, savings, and insurance

  • Memorial:  identify and acquire tangible items in memory or honor of loved ones

  • Mutual Ministry:  oversee staff hiring & compensation, and foster job satisfaction

  • Parish Life:  plan and host a variety of fellowship activities

  • Property:  care for and maintain church facilities, both inside and out

  • Social Ministry:  organize community outreach activities ranging from local to world-wide

  • Stewardship:  facilitate giving of members’ time, talents, and treasure

  • Worship & Music:  plan and offer worship opportunities.  Care of musical instruments
